Pros: Solid gate that works well for a wide space and looks nice as well. I like that it folds up and can’t be set to the side and that it isn’t attached to my walls. The gate keeps my Labradoodle contained to one room when he’s dirty!Cons: See picture for spot that is missing stain. One of the bottom feet did not line up with holes on bottom of gate but we were able to modify to make it work.Overall, happy with my purchase and wild purchase again.I bought this gate looking for something sturdy enough to confine our puppy to the kitchen. The only other reviewer for this item stated that it was fairly sturdy, which we wanted for our 4-month old 12-pound French bulldog, who throws herself against the pressure-mounted gate we have in another room when she's left alone. The gate arrived fully assembled, to our relief, so we were able to get it up right away.I would not recommend this gate for boisterous or large dogs because they'll easily be able to push or knock it down. I think this type of gate is intended more to serve as a room barrier for dogs who are older or more trained and will simply walk away from the gate. My puppy continually pushes on the gate with her front two paws and can push it around and knock it over with no problem - and she's a very small Frenchie, we're not talking about a German Shepard or anything. This gate is not sturdy at all, and it's especially weak when fully expanded. It doesn't even stand up straight; the wooden "feet" on the bottom barely support it & the whole thing tilts at an angle when free-standing. It kind of looks like the Leaning Tower of Pisa, which isn't amusing when you need it to function as a barrier for your dog. I would return it if I could, but we don't want to go through the hassle of having to pack such a large item back up & pay to ship it. We're going to try gluing some rubber wedge doorstops to the bottom in order to stabilize it and keep it from sliding.I needed a way to keep my new 4 month old puppy contained in a room with a double sized doorway without a door. Read lots of reviews of gates before deciding on this one. Could not use a tension gate because my span was too large. Finally realized that there was such a thing as a freestanding gate. When it arrived I was amazed at how heavy the box was. Unpacked it and wondered where the other half of it might be. Then I realized that the two end pieces fold inside the main two center pieces. Duh. Shows how much I read the listing detail. It is genius! Took all of two minutes to attach the two provided legs to the end pieces with the provided allen wrench.Gate looks very nice. Easy to live with as you can swing either side piece like a pivoting door to allow yourself to go into another room without moving the whole thing.PROS:1. Perfect for larger openings2. Very decorative and pretty3. Easy very minimal assembly4. Smart construction5. Easy human access through barrier6. Convertible to 3 sided crate put against a wallCONS:1. Not for use with a dog that isn't willing to honor a visual barrier. Too short to prevent jumping over for most breeds. Larger dogs could shove it aside even though it is pretty stout.2. Price - but you get what you pay for.Once it's together it is a 4 star. It looks very nice! I will say it is very heavy and awkward for one person to put together, especially if you have arthritis or back problems. However, the assembly is super easy. You just have to screw on 2 of the feet. One problem, you are supposed to be able to adjust the screws on the rotating feet (the ones that come attached) to make sure that the ball bearing latch catches. But nothing in heaven or earth was going to tighten those screws anymore than they already were; so, one of the swinging segments doesn't latch. I won't return it though because it doesn't swing freely or anything. It was packed extremely well with lots of protective padding; but, if this is important to you, it was not at all green. The packing had tons of Styrofoam in it. Overall, I really like it. It's the best gate I've ever had for my purposes. Just wish I'd had help getting it set up due to the weight. This thing is very cool. I really like the flexibility and mobility. It's heavy enough to be sturdy, but light enough to move around the house as necessary. I was originally shopping for a wall mounted gate, but I really like being able to move this thing around. My 8 dogs range in size from 20 to 90 pounds, and they all respect this boundary. The wood is not free of natural defects (knots), but this does not detract from the appearance in my opinion. The design is slick. The 'feet' on the central panel swivel, but the ones on the outer panels do not.If your dog is small and definitely a climber, you may want to consider something else. At approximately 28 pounds, if this thing is not set up well and not properly balanced, I would fear for a small dog if this thing fell over on them.Ok, so UPS delivered it to the wrong house and this thing is super heavy.Item also arrived with one of the pillars cracked. This definitely will not work as an actual barrier if you have anything bigger than a shitzu.Aside from all of this, we decided to keep it since it has been fairly effective as a psychological barrier to our 36 pound dog and added some padded weight to make sure it won't tumble if he leans on it.I wish I would've bought this gate a year ago, instead of the dinky one I purchased (which costs just $10 less). This is a beautiful, sturdy gate. I own a home dog boarding business, and I use this gate for the front door. Even my largest dogs cannot knock over this gate. I put one side up against a chest that is by the front door, and I swing one of the sides as a door. I actually like this better than the gate door I had with my past gate, it was a tripping hazard since there was a piece of wood on the bottom. This is a gorgeous, sturdy gate and I'm very happy with the purchase.I bought this folding gate/crate to use as a fence in order to block off some stairs and a hallway in my house to prevent my senior dog with a torn ligament from running around and causing himself more damage. After HOURS of comparing baby/pet gates and fences, I finally settled on this one and hoped for the best; I liked the convenience of the stand-alone concept and the versatility of placement available. It arrived pretty much already assembled with some pedal style feet to attach on the sides; just pull out of the box and unfold and you are practically set.Not sure if I simply received an older model, but the gate was not exactly as advertised. The "hardwood" description and images definitely suggest that the wood is polished and finished; mine arrived stained but still rough to the touch. The wood itself is sturdy but lighter than I was expecting. Not what the words "hardwood" draw to my mind anyways. The height for this model (MPL009) is stated as 29.84″, when in actuality my measurements place the highest portion (the middle with the handles) as over 30", and the smaller sides as being 27" - not necessarily a problem for me, but depending on your needs, could make a difference. The box, seller, and manufacturer all state "Merry Products" as the brand, but the instructions sent inside state "ZooVilla" as the brand. Not sure if one owns the other, but perhaps that may be the explanation for quality differences. The images on Amazon clearly show the two feet in the middle of the fence (under the handles) to stick out on BOTH sides of the fence, providing a sturdy base on each side - my product has a much smaller, singular piece that swivels and only covers ONE side (see photo). The foot is also not as detailed or as sturdy looking as the ones in the Amazon photos - the ones on my product are simple planks of wood that swivel (too loosely may I add, even though I tightened the screws as much as possible).Even though you receive two pedal style feet (which remain stationary after attachment) to put on the smaller sides, the gate is VERY wobbly when unfolded and straightened out, AND when folded together into the closed style position. The most secure placement for my model seems to be in the zig-zag or 3-sided pen variations - only then does it wobble less. Therefore, I am using a small brick to provide a bit of extra stability in case someone (or my dog) bumps into it. The gate does come with 3M rubber stickers to put on the feet to provide extra grip; perhaps I can fool around and find placement for these that will stop the wobbling. The product will still do the job and the concept is amazing, but the price does not seem justified given these quality issues. The configuration possibilities, the length coverage, the overall design are great, but the quality of the materials are lacking. Had they been better, I would have been over the moon with my purchase. This gate is great for my cocker spaniel. It looks nice and is wide enough to cover the stairs off our deck and tall enough that she can't jump over it. It is easy to move when the sides are folded in due to the handles built into the top rail. We haven't used it as a crate since we don't need to but it would function beautifully for that as well.It came broken. I don’t know how it can break. I don’t know whether to send it back or to keep it. It is so heavy. Putting it together again would be horrible.,Lets you do different configurations which is really handy,Starting to fall apart a bit but just need to buy some wood glue I guessExcellent gate, and a really nice finish!
