Cushion inside is wrapped in a plastic cover like a mattress cover which is nice if your dog has issues like that. Cover is removable, really dig this. I keep a blanket over mine, so it's fuzzy lol but not necessary.I recommend and would buy againOur dogs love these beds. Only critique would be is that the moisture barrier is thin so we add waterproof pads between pillow and cover.I am reviewing this product for the first time however I purchased this pet bed in October of 2015 after bringing home my new pup. I chose this bed for its orthopedic support knowing my boy was going to grow to be roughly 100 lbs, for the waterproof cover included knowing -- well he was a young puppy!, for the removable washable cover-- a must for any puppy and adult dog :), and an important factor for me was that the bed needed to fit well inside the pet crate I also purchased around a week prior to this bed.Why am I only now reviewing after 4 years? Well, I was kicking around the idea of purchasing an additional bed for another area in the home and so I immediately searched my previous Amazon order of this exact bed because it has been great for us. This also got me thinking that maybe someone like me, who reads reviews before purchasing a lot of products, might feel better to know how it will hold up to the use and abuse so here goes:1) The support is terrific! Even after 4 years of use and the growth of my pup into the 100+ man of a German Shepherd Dog he is it barely shows any areas of compression and still supports his body very well in either a curled or sprawled out position. And he uses this bed a lot (when the cat hasn't hijacked it from him first).2) Waterproof Liner worked like it was supposed to! Even though he is perfect in my eyes, he was not perfect on the potty training so his very limited accidents were contained to the surface above the liner keeping it to a quick sanitizing wipe across to clean after removing the main cover to toss in the washing and drying machines.3) Removable Cover: Has been removed-washed-dried-reapplied countless times over the years and the seams, zipper and material have held up brilliantly! Well, minus a couple of corners, but hey that was a result from teething and boredom so hardly the covers fault!! :D I toss into the washing machine on a Normal or PP cycle then into the dryer. It is quick to dry on low heat setting and does not shrink so easy to reapply.4) The 44"x32"x4" size I purchased fit almost perfectly with a very small amount of effort inside the MidWest Home Pet iCrate in the 48" size with double door extremely well. I wanted a cushion to help limit pressure on my GSD's hips from day one, so I looked for a bed that would fit as close to "wall to wall" inside his crate as possible. This one does just that if you barely squeeze in the sides as you are placing it inside. (Or at least IT DID but he very early on had lengthy conversations with me that he was not going to be a kennel kind of guy so I could just go ahead and fold the crate up and store it for a rainy day once he was out of his infancy. I relented-- he was very convincing-- and since then bed just by itself in our living area). The crate itself, if anyone is interested, is also of very good quality. It's easy to construct, nice heavy gauge coated metal with sturdy clips, convenient configuration of doors and tray, easy to collapse and compact when not in use for portability or storage.I am confident I have gotten my money's worth from this bed and then some for sure. Hope this review helps someone to make their own decision. We're 4 years and going strong!!I need extra beds for my 11 lb Yorkie pup who is in a chewing phase and still potty training. I want one that is durable enough for a puppy, chew resistant, waterproof, quick wash, and fits in a 24 x 48 playpen. I thought this might work. The waterproof vinyl cover in addition to the fabric cover and better cushion are what made me decide to give this a try.I bought the brown in size small, which is 25x20x4. I was hoping to fit the 25” side of this bed on the 24” side of my 24x48 playpen. It’s a tight fit but I could make it fit that way or just change the orientation of the bed for better fit.My pup is a chewer. He already tried the edges and trims. Good thing I’m home most of the time to supervise. I thought the fabric is on the thin side so I am not sure how many chewing attempts or how many washings it takes before it falls apart.I purchased this as “like new” and were to come repackaged per description. I got this today. The cushion is a little dirty on one side. Also, the light blue/silver vinyl cover (not the brown fabric) looked permanently stained everywhere on top and sides (except the bottom). It looked like the brown color of the fabric bled though the vinyl cover. I tried to clean it but they would not come off. At least I got it cleaned with disinfecting wipes. But I’m disappointed with the quality control at Amazon warehouse. It should not have been sold as like new.Too bad there is no replacement cover available for purchase. I would also pay extra for thicker fabric similar to canvas-like fabric.I also bought 2 of another brand, Milliard brand, 24x16x4. They sell replacement waterproof covers but no additional vinyl cover for it. I have 3 playpens in different rooms so I need extra beds.This bed arrives rolled tight so it will take some time to expand, but once it does, it becomes nice and thick. It's perfect for an older dog with sore joints. It provides our pup with the cushion he needs but maintains it's shape as well and it's not too soft. It is easy to clean which is appreciated in case your pup has an accident. It does have a water resistant cover around the foam under the cover. I have noticed that as long as you remove the soiled cover promptly, the water resistant cover will protect the foam underneath. You can generally just wipe the water resistant cover clean and wash the soft cover in the washing machine. Would recommend for any dog, especially an older dog.Picture shows "khaki" as a light gray color, but it's beige/tan, not even "greige". I probably should have known, because I know what color khaki is, but silly me, I believed they'd have pictures that accurately represent the product they're selling. Oops.Great quality. Waterproof lining on the foam inside the cover, means that the item is durable, and easy to clean. No need to worry about staining or spills. Dog loves it, and he's a fussy little blighter. Non slip bottom means it stays put too. As one of the other reviewers says, you really can't beat the quality of this and it's easy to spend more on an inferior product.I've had this bed for a few months now. It's kept its shape, and good price for the product. Only a four as the dog still prefers the sofa, so I'm not sure if it's comfy but then what can you do about dogs and sofas lol. When I press it it seems comfy enough.Excellent..Labrador just had a hip replacement and this is a perfect bed for she finds it very comfortable and her hairs just fall right off it..Brilliant.Perfect size for a largish dog and she seems to like it! Very good value and seems to be retaining its shape wellCan not believe the value for money. This bed is great. Have paid a lot more for inferior items in the past. Happy pooch lives here.
